The Shenzhen Airport Company has reported that its net profits rose by an impressive 134.92 per cent year-on-year to US$84 million.

Doug Newhouse writes in Trend-News.com* that the profit comes on the back of 14.4 per cent increase in passenger numbers to 24.4 million that used the airport last year.

The airport, based in south China's Guangdong Province said that total business revenue was up by 9.69 per cent to $243 million last year, up 9.69 per cent compared to 2008.

Quoting figures released in February by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), the company added that China's air travel market grew by 19.79 per cent in 2009 despite the global downturn, with China's airports handling 486 million passengers.
