Japan Airlines will extend the period of cutbacks on round-trip flights on routes from Osaka (Kansai) and Nagoya (Chubu) to Bangkok until July 15.
The antigovernment demonstrations in Bangkok in April and May have led to sharp declines in passenger bookings to Bangkok, severly damaging Thailand's tourism industry and accommodation sector.
In response to falling passenger demand, JAL temporarily reduced the number of weekly flights on these routes for the month of June and as leisure passenger demand has been slow to recover with continued concern about the stability of the situation, JAL has decided to extend the period of temporary flight reduction for an additional 15 days to the middle of July.
JAL anticipates recovery in demand during the upcoming summer holiday season and plans to reinstate from July 16, daily flights connecting Osaka and Nagoya with Bangkok.
