Air Senegal officials insist that its Royal Air Maroc was still flying to Senegal despite an ongoing dispute between the partner companies. "RAM (Royal Air Maroc) is still flying to Senegal, there has been no interruption," Air Senegal said, denying an earlier claim by an Air Senegal spokesman that the airline was no longer flying the Dakar route. The RAM office in Dakar also confirmed to AFP that their flight due to land here Thursday night had not been cancelled. Air Senegal International (ASI) was created in 2000 with RAM holding a 51 percent stake in the company and the Senegalese state 49 percent. Since almost two years ago, the companies have been at odds with each other. This week, a Senegalese court ruled that RAM could not withdraw from the company. Late in 2007, the Senegalese state announced it was taking control of ASI, accusing the RAM of bad management. The Moroccans are pressing Dakar to take effective control of ASI, saying they will withdraw otherwise. - AFP/cpy/sb/eb |
