Qantas says football fans can book seats on the flight taking the Qantas Socceroos team to this year's FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

The airline will fly the team to Johannesburg on a specially-painted Boeing 747 from Melbourne on May 26.

Qantas CEO Alan Joyce said Qantas Socceroos fans would be able to purchase seats in the First, Premium Economy and Economy cabins.

“Qantas is proud to carry the Qantas Socceroos to South Africa and pleased to be able to offer Qantas customers the opportunity to fly to South Africa onboard the same flight,” Joyce said.

“Qantas Frequent Flyers were given an opportunity to purchase tickets last week, and we are now pleased to promote the flight to the general public.

“As a special celebration of the event, all passengers will also enjoy an exclusive supporter pack which will include a limited edition Qantas Socceroos Nike jersey.”

In the lead up to the farewell flight, Qantas will prepare its specially painted Qantas Socceroos B747, currently flying around the world with its message of support Qantas Socceroos – We’re With You All The Way, to ensure the team arrive team arrive in South Africa rested and ready to take on their challenge.

Customers wishing to book tickets can book on qantas.com or contact their local travel agent. Fares start at $1399 including fees and charges.

Qantas operates six flights per week between Sydney and Johannesburg and daily codeshare flights between Perth and Johannesburg.
