FRANKFURT: With more space available at Heathrow Terminal 1, Star Alliance is implementing the next stage of its "Move under One Roof" (MuoR) strategy, which will see current Terminal 2 carriers (Austrian, Croatia Airlines, Lufthansa, Swiss and TAP Portugal) relocate to Terminal 1.
Passengers on these five carriers will find their travel experience substantially improved once the relocation takes effect within the next few month, says the alliance.
A new common and Star Alliance-branded check-in area will welcome travellers on Austrian, Croatia Airlines, Lufthansa, LOT Polish Airlines (already at Terminal 1) and TAP. After check-in, passengers will pass through a separate security line directly behind the check-in area that will also have a fast track for top-tier customers.
Passengers on Air New Zealand, Asiana Airlines, BMI, South African Airways, Swiss, United and US Airways will also benefit from the new layout of Terminal 1, with check-in and ticketing for these carriers in the redesigned main concourse.
BMI will launch a new lounge in Terminal 1 in June as it relocates its international lounge closer to its primary gates. With one Star Alliance First- and Business-Class Lounge and two BMI lounges (one for domestic passengers and one for international), Heathrow will offer eligible Star Alliance customers an unprecedented choice of lounges.
Once the next phase of the move is completed, the 21 Star Alliance member carriers serving Heathrow will be nearly evenly split between Terminals 1 and 3, making the alliance the largest such group in the core of Heathrow, with direct access to the full range of public transport.
Air Canada, Air China, ANA, Blue 1, EgyptAir, Scandinavian Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Thai and Turkish Airlines stay in Terminal 3 until 2013; Air New Zealand, Asiana Airlines, BMI, LOT, South African Airways, United and US Airways are in Terminal 1; Austrian, Croatia Airlines, Lufthansa, Swiss and TAP move from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 this year |
