Malaysia Airlines and Royal Brunei Airlines will codeshare on flights between Bandar Seri Begawan and Kota Kinabalu as well as between Bandar Seri Begawan and Kuching from July 1.

Malaysia Airlines commercial director, Dato’ Rashid Khan said: “We are delighted to expand our partnership with Royal Brunei. As Borneo is a popular destination for North American and North Asian tourists, our customers can now enjoy seamless connectivity to the three major cities which offer unique cultural heritage and natural attractions. Other attractions in Sabah and Sarawak are also easily accessible via our airline subsidiary, MASwings.”

Royal Brunei Airlines senior VP of commercial, sales & marketing, Wong Peng Hoon said: “Once we code-share on Sabah and Sarawak, Royal Brunei Airlines will be able to effectively make the travel to Borneo seamless for passengers. Passengers will also be able to take advantage of the increased number of flights into Borneo and access both airlines’ booking engines.

“We are delighted to work with Malaysia Airlines on these codeshare opportunities and focus on meeting the needs of passengers travelling to Borneo, which is an ever growing tourist destination. This will strengthen Royal Brunei Airlines’ position as The Gateway To Borneo,” he added.

Malaysia Airlines will code-share on Royal Brunei Airlines’ twice daily services between Bandar Seri Begawan and Kota Kinabalu and twice weekly services between Bandar Seri Begawan and Kuching.
The two airlines have been code-sharing on flights between Bandar Seri Begawan and Kuala Lumpur since 2004.
